Project Spotlight: Updating a Roof in Riverdale, NJ

At Ballantine Home Improvement, we recently completed a roofing project for a homeowner in Riverdale, NJ! They called us asking for an updated roof while still maintaining the same color and style, and we were excited to take this project on. Here’s what the project entailed.

Updating the Roof

For this project, no siding trim or gutters were involved, so we used Owens Corning TruDefinition® shingles in Onyx Black for the homeowner’s house and detached garage in order to keep the same sleek, modern look as before. The detached garage had some moss build-up, but it was a quick and simple project. However, we did run into a leak that needed to be addressed on the home’s roof.

Fixing a Leak

The leak was found on an area of the roof where the addition and the roof line created a valley that was directed towards a dormer. The team worked diligently to address the leak by adding extra waterproofing to the roof and siding to prevent future leaks. We also installed a cricket, which diverts water around a chimney. While it wasn’t leaking at the time we felt it was the best approach to prevent future leaking.

Even with the slight hiccup of the roof leak, the project was completed in just two days, showcasing the efficiency of our team at Ballantine Home Improvement. I got a few quotes from various highly rated companies for roofing, gutters, and siding. I happen to find Ballantine from a neighbor that was doing their roof also and was amazed at how quickly it was done. I called the number on the van and Scott came to look over the job and gave me a quote. He was the only one that went into the attic to inspect before giving a quote. He also gave me a quote for gutter replacements with leaf guard and repaired some siding and facia. The team was quick and professional and did the job in under the time quoted. They also removed the many attic fans I had and put in ridge vents which will save me a bundle on electricity bills. I'm very happy with way the roof and gutters came out and would definitely recommend. They also went above and beyond helping me troubleshoot some other issues. A+++

I first heard about Ballantine Home Improvement when my neighbor informed me that he had finally found a company that was willing to take on his difficult roofing job. The neighbor’s roof was very old and contained asbestos, which was complicated because of the special removal and disposal techniques involved. A few weeks ago a periodic leak in our living room from the roof became consistent. Every time it rained, water came in and was damaging our wood floor. Within a few days, Scott and Ballantine Home Improvement had inspected my house, provided a very reasonable quote, and fixed our roof. We were so happy with the new flashing, we hired Ballantine to install gutter guards too. Of course, they were able to schedule the install for the gutter guards within a week too.I cannot recommend Ballantine Home Improvement enough. They are consummate professionals, whose work is top notch, with surprisingly reasonable prices.
